Blast Motion Launches Apple Watch app and HealthKit Support with Blast Baseball 360 Training Solution

Combining the Blast Baseball 360 sensor with the new Apple Watch app,
along with HealthKit and SiriKit support, athletes and coaches gain a
new form of real-time “wearable” swing analysis & training feedback

CARLSBAD, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Blast Motion, an industry innovator focused on 360-degree athletic
improvement through software services and advanced sensor-based motion
capture, today announced a new Apple Watch app, along with HealthKit and
SiriKit support with the Blast Baseball 360 training solution. The Apple
Watch integration allows athletes to get real-time swing metrics or
video highlights displayed on their wrist during practice, while Siri
provides real-time voice announcements without requiring users to access
their mobile device. The HealthKit integration allows athletes and
coaches to track important training session data, including heart rate
and calorie burn.

“Apple’s latest iOS 10 and WatchOS 3 provided Blast with the advanced
functionality required to create a more natural training experience,”
said Bhaskar Bose, Ph.D., Senior Director, Technology, Blast Motion.
“Athletes can get real-time swing analysis through audio feedback or a
quick glance at their wrist. This enables them to control video
recording and review video highlights on the Apple Watch.”

The Blast Baseball 360 app update also includes easy access to training
center videos right from the home screen navigation bar, allowing
athletes to understand their metrics, get tips, and learn how they can
improve their swing.

“We’re focused on helping athletes improve through our natural motion
capture technologies, while ensuring technology doesn’t get in the way,”
said Donovan Prostrollo, Senior Director, Marketing, Blast Motion. “Our
new Apple Watch app and seamless Siri integration provides a great
example of how we’re helping athletes have more fun while improving
their swing.”

Blast Baseball 360 is the official bat sensor technology of Major League
Baseball®. The Blast sensor and mobile app have been
specially designed for swing analysis, helping players of all ages and
skillsets understand the mechanics of their swings and learn how they
can hit with more power and efficiency. The waterproof sensor and bat
attachment slip over the knob of any standard baseball or softball bat
and have been designed to capture the industry’s most accurate swing
metrics. Blast Motion’s patented Smart Video Capture™ technology uses a
smartphone camera to capture video, while the Blast Baseball 360 app
intelligently analyzes, combines, and syncs swing metrics with the video
to deliver real-time, mobile video analysis. The app automatically
detects a player’s swing and clips the video to create a series of video
highlights. No user editing or practice interruption is required to
experience this groundbreaking functionality.
