September Model Year-End Promotions Mean Buying Opportunity for Thrifty Car Shoppers

Savings of up to 20% off MSRP on some outgoing models

SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–As new 2016 model year cars and trucks arrive on dealer lots this month,
substantial savings abound on outgoing 2015 models, according TrueCar,
Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUE),
the negotiation-free car buying and selling mobile marketplace.
September ranks as the year’s second-best month for consumers in the
market for a new vehicle.

A review of 2014 new vehicle transactional data by TrueCar indicates
September generated average savings of 7.6 percent off the
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Only December was higher,
with average savings per vehicle of 7.7 percent MSRP.

“Consumers should prioritize what is most important to them: owning the
latest model year or saving money,” said Eric Lyman, TrueCar’s vice
president of industry insights. “Those opting to purchase this month are
making a decision that benefits their wallets as September offers
savings of as much as 20 percent off MSRP for some vehicles.”

Hyundai’s Veloster tops TrueCar’s list of best savings on new vehicles,
with discounts of as much as up to 20 percent for 2015 model versions of
the three-door coupe. Jeep’s Cherokee also makes the list, with a
notable 19 percent off MSRP for the outgoing model year.

Among the special promotions coinciding with the model year changeover
period this month, Chevy is touting Truck Month with no-interest
financing on its 2015 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with an additional $4,000
in customer cash. Ford is also offering 0 percent loans for 72 months on
its 2015 F-150 XLT SuperCab and SuperCrew trucks, with 2.7-liter V6
engines and luxury chrome or sport packages. Kia’s Model Line
Clearance offers 0 percent financing for up to 66 months on 2015
models.

prices and identifies opportunities for consumer savings.
