Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio and Mercy Health Collaborate to Provide High-Quality Care to Ohio Residents

The Jewish Hospital joins Anthem’s Medicare Advantage Network

CINCINNATI–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio (Anthem) and Mercy Health
announced today that The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health in Kenwood will
join Anthem’s Medicare Advantage provider network, effective January 1,
2018. Ohioans who are members of Anthem’s Medicare Advantage plans will
be able to utilize The Jewish Hospital’s healthcare services on an
in-network basis, leading to benefits such as lower out-of-pocket costs
compared to seeing a clinician outside of a health plan’s list of
preferred providers.

The Jewish Hospital is part of Mercy Health, the largest nonprofit
healthcare system in Ohio. In Greater Cincinnati, Mercy Health provides
an integrated network of physicians, five award-winning hospitals,
senior living communities, primary care and specialty physician
practices, outpatient centers, fitness centers and a variety of outreach
programs. The four other local Mercy Health hospitals – Anderson,
Clermont, Fairfield, and West – are also part of Anthem’s Medicare
Advantage provider network.

“The addition of The Jewish Hospital to Anthem’s Medicare Advantage
provider network is another example of our commitment to providing the
highest quality health plans for current members and those we hope to
have the privilege of serving in the future,” said David McNichols,
president of Anthem’s central region. “Anthem and Mercy Health share
common values – providing care centered on the unique needs of each
member and working with our members to find solutions that help them
lead healthier lives.”

The Jewish Hospital offers patients a wide range of healthcare services,
including the region’s first and most experienced adult Blood Cancer
Center, the region’s only Gamma Knife radiosurgery service, a premier
joint replacement center, a weight management center, and full-spectrum
cardiovascular and emergency services.

“By being part of Anthem’s preferred network of providers, we will
ensure that more people will have increased access to our renowned
services,” said Pat Davis-Hagens, president and CEO, The Jewish Hospital
– Mercy Health. “The Jewish Hospital has a long history of providing
quality care to the Cincinnati community, and joining Anthem’s network
allows us to continue delivering on that commitment.”

“The announcement is also an important consideration for Ohioans who are
making a decision on their 2018 Medicare coverage during this year’s
Medicare Annual Election Period,” added McNichols. “It’s important for
consumers to know what healthcare providers will be in their health
plan’s network for when it’s time for them to utilize healthcare
services in 2018.”

The opportunity to enroll in a Medicare plan began on October 15 and
continues through December 7. This is the one time each year when
Medicare-eligible individuals can pick or switch Medicare Advantage
plans.

Ohioans eligible for Medicare – those who are enrolled in Medicare Part
A and Part B – have the opportunity to select from a number 2018
