Joel McHale to Host Live Broadcast, January 18th on CBS

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The People’s Choice Awards announced today that country music superstar,
Blake Shelton, will perform at PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2017, live from
the Microsoft Theater, Wednesday, January 18, 2017, on the CBS
Television Network (9:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT). Shelton, who won his
first People’s Choice Award in 2016 for “Favorite Male Country Artist”
and is nominated in 2017 for “Favorite Male Artist,” “Favorite Male
Country Artist” and “Favorite Album,” joins previously announced
performers Fifth Harmony. Hosted by Joel McHale, star of the CBS comedy
“The Great Indoors,” the People’s Choice Awards are the only major
awards show where fans determine the nominees and winners across
categories of movies, music, television and digital.

It was also announced last night that attendees of PEOPLE’S CHOICE
AWARDS 2017 will include Kristen Bell, Ellen DeGeneres, Robert Downey
Jr., Tom Hanks, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Lopez, Boris Kodjoe, Bill Paxton,
Tyler Perry, Adam Rodriguez, John Stamos, Wilmer Valderrama, and Kerry
Washington. Additional attendees will be announced at a later date.

“Blake Shelton is one of the greatest live performers of all time,” said
executive producer Mark Burnett. “I love this guy and can’t wait for our
global audience to watch his brilliance on stage.”

Country Music Association’s 2012 “Entertainer of the Year,” five-time
Male Vocalist of the Year winner and GRAMMY nominee Blake Shelton
continues to add to his superstar status. With 17 consecutive #1
singles, Shelton owns the record of successive #1 singles in the modern
era, and has a total of 22 #1 singles. His most recent album, If I’m
debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart and the
Billboard Country Album Chart. If I’m Honest has already yielded
the #1 smash single, “Came Here To Forget,” and his new single “A Guy
With A Girl” is Top 15 and climbing after just over a month at radio.
The album features three songs written by Shelton which include the
gospel tinged “Savior’s Shadow,” “Friends,” which is also featured in
the #1 film, The Angry Birds Movie, and “Go Ahead and Break My
Heart,” a song he wrote and performs with Gwen Stefani. A member of the
Grand Ole Opry, he has earned a host of awards throughout his career,
including the first-ever “Male Artist of the Year” and “Story of the
Year” RARE COUNTRY Awards and the 2016 People’s Choice Award for
“Favorite Male Country Artist.” Shelton is in production on season 11 of
NBC’s “The Voice” and recently hosted Nickelodeon’s slime-filled Kids’
Choice Awards. Shelton is the subject of a career-spanning exhibition at

Now in its 43rd year, the People’s Choice Awards is the only major
awards show voted on entirely by the public for fan favorites in movies,
music, television and digital. The People’s Choice official website at
houses the voting platform where fans determine the nominees and winners
for the annual awards show. Every year, potential nominees are
determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses, music
sales, social media activity and data, then vetted
through E-Poll Market Research. Fred Nelson is the President of People’s
Choice, and serves alongside Mark Burnett, Jane Mun and Kimmie H. Kim as
Executive Producers of the awards show. The awards show, and digital,
