Charlotte Charities Receive NASCAR All-Star Ticket Donations

Sprint gives to Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks Rescue, Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society, The Sandbox

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sprint (NYSE: S) is providing 100 tickets worth $5,000 to the upcoming NASCAR
Sprint All-Star Race™
on Saturday, May 21 to three Charlotte-area
charitable organizations. Volunteers and families served by Carolina
Big Hearts Big Barks Rescue
, Leukemia
& Lymphoma Society (North Carolina Chapter)
and The
Sandbox
will enjoy an evening of fun and excitement at Charlotte
Motor Speedway.

Sprint is passionate about giving back to the communities we
serve,” said Michael Miess, Sprint president for North Carolina and
South Carolina. “Every day these organizations provide a vital service
to the Charlotte community. It’s our hope that through this contribution
the families and volunteers they work with have a chance to enjoy the
excitement of a NASCAR All-Star Race.”

“When families face a life-altering diagnosis, one of the most important
things we can do is provide opportunities for them to get their minds
off the rigors of treatment,” said Mara Campolungo, executive director
of The Sandbox. “Excursions like the NASCAR All-Star Race give children
a day to simply focus on being a kid again and spending time with their
families. We are so grateful for the generosity from Sprint to allow
them this opportunity.”

“At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, our amazing volunteers, patients,
survivors and their families work hard throughout the year to raise
funds for lifesaving research and support services for those touched by
blood cancer,” said Alyson Willis, Light The Night Senior Campaign
Manager. “These volunteers are the heart of our organization and the
true All-Stars in our book. We are grateful for Sprint’s generous
donation which allows us to celebrate those individuals who are
relentless for a cure.”

“The donated tickets mean so much to us at CBHBB,” said Lisa Schauseil,
President at Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks Rescue. “A portion of the
tickets will be used for a silent auction fundraiser to help pay for
much need treatment for one of our heartworm positive dogs. The
remaining tickets will be given to volunteers as a show of appreciation
for their tireless efforts to help so many dogs in need.”

The volunteers and their family members will also have the opportunity
to stop by the Sprint Fan Display at the race where they can:

  • See the latest devices and accessories for sale
  • Enter to win great prizes
  • Participate in autograph sessions with drivers (designated times)
  • Have their faces painted
  • Play games
