Cigna Foundation Provides Help to Orlando Victims and Loved Ones, And to LGBT Youth Nationwide

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. & ORLANDO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Cigna Foundation will assist victims of the Orlando shooting, and
their loved ones, through a $75,000 grant to the OneOrlando
Fund
established by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to assist those
affected by the recent tragedy.

“We hope our grant can play a part in the healing process for a nation
in mourning,” said David Figliuzzi, executive director of the Cigna
Foundation.

Earlier this week, Cigna began offering phone counseling at no charge
for anyone coping with loss, anxiety, stress, fear or other issues
related to the Orlando shooting. Those without Cigna benefits can call
866.912.1687, 24/7, through July 8. Customers who have health
benefits or employee assistance programs through Cigna are invited to
call the telephone number on their Cigna I.D. card.

“Cigna is here for our community, sharing in the grief and committed to
moving forward, together,” said Dean Mirabella, president of Cigna’s
North Florida market.

In related news, the Cigna Foundation also announced two grants to
support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth nationwide.
These include a $25,000 grant to the Gay
and Lesbian and Straight Education Network
to help ensure a safe and
supportive school environment, and a $10,000 grant to the Trevor
Foundation
, a national organization providing crisis intervention
and suicide prevention to LGBT youth ages 13-24.

Cigna prides itself on a diverse and inclusive workforce, and was
recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality
Index (CEI) in 2015 as a best company for promoting workplace equality.
Additionally, Cigna employees work together to ensure that Cigna has
insights into the needs of its LGBT customers, and that Cigna continues
to be viewed as an employer that values diversity among customers and
