COEX to Become the First Exhibition Center to Open Muslim Prayer Room

SEOUL, South Korea–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The
COEX convention and exhibition center
will become the first of its
kind in Korea to open dedicated facilities for its Muslim guests with
the opening of its new prayer room next week.

COEX
has invited Islamic organizations as well as MICE industry leaders to
join them on Thursday January 28th from 11:00 to 13:00 for the opening
ceremony of the prayer room.

“As the number of our internationally oriented exhibitions has
increased, so too have the numbers of our Muslim guests,” said In-Ho
Kim, Chairman and CEO of Korea International Trade Association. “We want
to make sure our international guests feel at home at COEX, no matter
where they are from. This is a step in that direction.”

The new prayer room, which will be opened on the third floor of COEX,
will feature separate rooms for men and women. To accommodate daily
prayer schedules, the room will be open until 10 pm. Other tools for
prayer, including a Qibla which indicates the direction toward Mecca,
clocks, Korans, and carpets, will also be provided for the convenience
of guests.

“This prayer room is not only offering convenience to buyers and MICE
visitors coming to COEX, but also encouraging cultural exchange in the
fields of trade and tourism,” said In-Ho Kim, Chairman and CEO of Korea
International Trade Association.
