CSCP: Action Alliance for Sustainable Bananas
Multi-stakeholder cooperation for sustainable value chains
BERLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ABNB–The Action Alliance for Sustainable Bananas (Aktionsbündnis für
Nachhaltige Bananen – ABNB) will present itself in a panel discussion on
9th February at 9:30am at the Fruit Logistica, in Hall 17
(Kleiner Stern). Here visitors will discover first-hand the reasons why
amongst others Kaufland and Fyffes are active in the ABNB and what
benefits a commitment brings. The Action Alliance has set itself the
long-term goal, to make the entire value chain of the bananas sold in
Germany more sustainable. For this partners from retail, export, import,
production, consumer organisations and NGOs will work in joint projects
and exchange knowledge in regular workshops. A constructive and
trustworthy collaboration is a key element of ABNB’s work. Founding
members besides Fyffes and Kaufland, include the World Wide Fund For
Nature (WWF), the Global Nature Fund (GNF), Oxfam, Südwind and TransFair
(Fairtrade Germany). The ABNB members look forward to answering the
questions of interested stakeholders.
The Action Alliance was initiated by TransFair in autumn 2014. Since
October 2015, the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit
und Entwicklung (BMZ) (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and
Development) has been supporting the Alliance through the Gesellschaft
für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) (German Federal Enterprise for
International Cooperation) in an advisory and financial capacity.
