First Command Signs Statement of Support for National Guard and Reserve

FORT WORTH, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–First Command Financial Services, Inc. has signed the Employer Support
of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Statement of Support, reaffirming its
long-standing commitment to employing America’s career military.

Employers signing a statement of support pledge to:

  • Fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment
    and Reemployment Rights Act.
  • Provide our managers and supervisors with the tools they need to
effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • Appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills servicemembers
bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to employ
    guardsmen, reservists, and veterans.
  • Continually recognize and support our country’s servicemembers and
their families in peace, in crisis, and in war.

First Command signed the Statement of Support during an ESGR ceremony
today at the company’s corporate headquarters in Fort Worth. The
Statement of Support Program is the cornerstone of ESGR’s effort to gain
and maintain employer support for the Guard and Reserve.

“Through our signing of this Statement of Support, we are reaffirming
our 57-year commitment to serve the needs of America’s career military
families,” said Scott Spiker, CEO of First Command. “Since 1958, we have
helped thousands of transitioning servicemembers, military veterans and
military spouses find meaningful careers as Financial Advisors, skilled
support professionals and corporate executives in locations around the
world. Nearly 70 percent of our Advisor force comes from the ranks of
veterans and military spouses. That proud tradition of recruiting those
who serve includes members of the National Guard and Reserve. We are
committed to making sure these employees know that their jobs will be
there for them when they return from military service.”
