foundation2recovery.org Makes $1 Million in Drug Testing Detection Cups Available to Fight Prescription Drug Epidemic

Foundation’s Novel Approach is First Step to Start National
Dialogue, Remove Financial and “Availability” Impediments to Critical
Testing

BOCA RATON, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, foundation2recovery.org, a 501C3 charity whose mission is to
develop a portfolio of “disruptive” tools and resources to address
prevention, education and treatment programs to fight the prescription
drug epidemic in the US and improve on the abysmal 6 percent treatment
success rate currently endured, announced it will be making available at
no charge $1 million worth of 12 panel drug testing detection kits to
open up a national dialogue about this scourge. The testing cups will be
available at www.foundation2recovery.org
and there is no charge. Interested parties need only supply a mailing
and email address.

America is losing the war on prescription drugs. More people die
from overdose of prescription opiate pain medications than from all
other drugs combined, including heroin and cocaine. According to the
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), more than 2 million people in
the United States suffer from substance use disorders related to
prescription opiate pain medications. And, a recent Bloomberg Business
News report on a recent poll conducted by the respected Kaiser Family
Foundation found that:

  • 1 in 4 Americans (66%) has been addicted to painkillers or is close to
    an addict
  • 63% of these addicts have incomes of $90k or greater
  • 2,000 kids try prescription drugs daily, 60 percent before the age of
    15
  • 259 million opoid prescriptions were issued in 2012, enough to
    medicate every adult American

“I’ve been very fortunate throughout my business career. Now, I want to
use my knowledge and resources to give back and save lives,” said Joe
Randazza the foundation2recovery.org co-founder and serial entrepreneur.
“While neither I nor any family member have any connection to
prescription drug abuse whatsoever, we see what it is doing to our youth
and to people just like us. We wanted to do something that would make an
immediate difference and send the right message.”

“The statistics are staggering and the causes for misuse of opiates are
extremely complex,” said Randazza. “foundation2recovery.org has been
formed to begin the dialogue and propel the effort needed to fight this
scourge at its source.”

Beyond the testing cup program, foundation2recovery.org will develop a
portfolio of support tools and resources to address prevention and
education as well as treatment programs that include the use of
FDA-approved “opiate blockers.”

foundation2recovery.org is taking its message public in a variety of
ways. One such tactic is through Public Service Announcements, PSA’s,
with one currently running in multiple markets featuring the celebrity
newsman Geraldo Rivera. The PSA can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/139953214.
The organization is also in contact with local and state Departments of
Health to bring its programs to their citizens.
