Four Sunrise Senior Living Communities Recognized By 2016 Silver National Quality Award

MCLEAN, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sunrise
Senior Living
celebrates four of its communities that have recently
earned the 2016 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award by the
American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living
(AHCA/NCAL). The award is the second of three distinctions possible
through the AHCA/NCAL National
Quality Award Program
, which recognizes long-term and post-acute
care communities across the United States that have demonstrated their
dedication to improving the lives of residents through quality care.

A total of 71 centers were named this year as Silver National Quality
Award recipients, including the following Sunrise communities:

  • Sunrise of Decatur (Decatur, GA)
  • Sunrise of Johns Creek (Johns Creek, GA)
  • Sunrise at Webb Gin (Lawrenceville, GA)
  • The Stratford (San Mateo, CA)

“All of our communities are committed to providing high-quality,
personalized care to every resident as part of the Sunrise Quality
Promise. We are determined to help create a safe, engaging and warm
environment – one that our residents will be proud to call home,” said Sue
Coppola
, SVP of Care for Sunrise. “We are honored that four Sunrise
communities earned the 2016 Silver National Quality Award, a prestigious
accomplishment among the health care community – and, in particular, to
have such a strong representation in the assisted living space.”

“These Silver recipients have demonstrated strong systematic approaches
to care and an unwavering commitment to quality,” said Ed
McMahon
, Ph.D., VP of Quality for Sunrise. “I congratulate all of
these team members for being on this path of continuous quality
improvement.”

The Silver Award recipients join 66 Sunrise assisted living communities
that were recognized with the 2016 Bronze National Quality Award and the
76 communities that received the Bronze level last year. Visit Sunrise’s
National Quality Award Program webpage for a full
listing
of recipients.

The National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and
criteria of the nationally recognized Baldrige Performance Excellence
Program. The program includes three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver
and Gold. At the Silver level, members develop and demonstrate effective
approaches that help improve performance and health care outcomes.
Trained examiners review each member application to determine if the
center has met the criteria to qualify for the award.

“It takes incredible dedication and passion to successfully apply the
demands of the criteria,” said Christine Boldt, Chair of the AHCA/NCAL
National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “I applaud Sunrise’s four
communities for reaching this level.”

All 2016 National Quality Award recipients will be honored during
AHCA/NCAL’s Annual Convention & Exposition in Nashville, TN, October
16-19.
