Golden 1 Credit Union Celebrates International Credit Union Day by Thanking Members

Weeklong event highlights the “credit union difference”

SACRAMENTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) today announced it is commemorating
International Credit Union Day, an annual event celebrated on the third
Thursday of October, to highlight the history and success of credit
unions. Golden 1 is hosting a week of activities for members showing its
appreciation at branch locations across California and online.

“Golden 1 takes pride in being a California, member-focused organization
that is today one of the largest credit unions in the country with more
than 720,000 members,” said Golden 1 Credit Union President and CEO,
Donna Bland. “Our goal is to continue providing members with great
benefits like free checking, the best possible rates on mortgages, auto
loans and credit cards and a variety of other quality financial
services. We are committed to a ‘stronger together’ philosophy to ensure
our members and the communities we serve flourish.”

Golden 1 is inviting members to celebrate in-person or online. Each
branch will be hosting events with refreshments, while members who visit
the Golden
1 Facebook page
can enter to win a variety of prizes throughout the
week including gasoline gift cards, Ticketmaster gift cards and iPads.

“As not-for-profit organizations, credit unions reinvest revenues back
into the community, helping members invest to improve their lives.
International Credit Union Day is an opportunity for members to
celebrate the value and convenience that is the credit union
difference,” adds Bland.

Golden 1 is a member-owned not-for-profit financial cooperative,
offering a wide range of low-to-no fee financial services that offer
higher yields on savings, lower rates on loans, and unmatched member
services. The credit union mission is to serve members, not to make a
profit. Unlike most other financial institutions, credit unions do not
issue stock or pay dividends to outside stockholders. Instead, earnings
are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest
on deposits, and lower fees.
