Governor Inslee Proclaims Jan. 22-28 “Washington School Choice Week”; Joins Leaders Nationwide in Celebrating Opportunity in Education

Washington students, communities to hold more than 250 events as part
of nation’s largest-ever celebration of school choice

OLYMPIA, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Governor Jay Inslee has officially proclaimed Jan. 22-28 as Washington
School Choice Week, joining more than 20 governors and more than 600
city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations.

With more than 21,000 independently planned events, National School
Choice Week 2017 will be the largest-ever celebration of opportunity in
education. Events include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse
meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more.

National School Choice Week is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical effort
seeking to raise awareness about of the school choice options parents
have, or want to have, for their children.

“We are thrilled that Gov. Inslee has issued this proclamation and that
School Choice Week will be official in Washington,” said Andrew
Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “Parents in
Washington have an important opportunity this week to talk about the
schools their children attend and what options they would like to have.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public
awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective
education options for every child. Through thousands of independently
planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises
public awareness of all types of educational choices available to
children. These options include traditional public schools, public
charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private
schools, and homeschooling.
