Hershey’s Chocolate World Expanding to New Location in the Heart of Times Square
New flagship store slated to open at 20 Times Square in late 2017
HERSHEY, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Hershey Company (NYSE: HSY) today announced plans for a new,
expanded location of its flagship Hershey’s Chocolate World store
in New York City. Opening at 20 Times Square in late 2017, the new store
will give visitors even more ways to experience the many wonders of
chocolate and enjoy their favorite Hershey brands.
“We are thrilled to expand our Hershey’s Chocolate World presence
in New York with a new, larger flagship store in the heart of Times
Square, which is truly the crossroads of the world,” said Suzanne Jones,
Vice President, The Hershey Experience. “Our vision is to create a
destination where people of all ages can interact with our iconic brands
and immerse themselves in all things chocolate.”
The new store at 20 Times Square will be three times larger than the
current Hershey’s Chocolate World location in New York, with
entrances located on both West 47th Street and 7th Avenue. The larger
footprint, state of the art digital billboard and prime location give
Hershey new opportunities to bring its brands and campaigns to life for
visitors. Hershey and its Global Design team will work with The Witkoff
Group, a leading global real estate development and investment firm, and
FRCH Worldwide, a strategic design and architectural firm, on the
development of the space. Construction will begin in early 2017.
The new location builds on the success of the Hershey’s Chocolate
World store currently located at Broadway and West 48th
Street in New York, which has delighted visitors since it opened in
2002. The current location will remain open during construction of the
new store.
The New York location is one of eight Hershey’s Chocolate World retail
stores, which extend the magic of the original Hershey’s Chocolate
World Attraction in Hershey, Pa. to people worldwide. Other retail
locations include Chicago, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Dubai, Singapore
and Shanghai. Since 1973, Hershey’s Chocolate World locations
around the world have seen more than 150 million visitors.
