Introducing Whistle 3 – The Tracker Making Pet Care Smarter, Faster, and More Reliable

Pet tech leader unveils smaller and more accurate GPS and activity
monitor for dogs and cats

SAN FRANCISCO & LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–WHISTLE®,
the market leader in pet tracking and monitoring devices, today
announced its next generation product, Whistle
3
, at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Created to quickly locate a lost pet and proactively track daily
exercise, Whistle 3 improves upon the most popular elements of the
brand’s market-leading pet devices. By combining continuous location
tracking with upgraded activity monitoring, the team at Whistle has
built a best-of-breed pet tracking device and companion mobile app to
make pet care more intelligent and intuitive.

Expanding upon the previous award-winning Whistle pet tracker platform,
Whistle 3 includes industry-first features designed to address the most
common needs of pet owners, including:

  • Faster and more accurate location tracking. A brand new
wireless infrastructure using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular and GPS
technology enables pet owners to get faster escape alerts and quickly
track down a lost pet using their smartphone.
  • Multiple custom safe places. The app’s improved geofencing
feature means pet owners can now create multiple safe places for the
home, office, or dog-friendly vacation spot.
  • Brand new Whistle 3 app. The mobile app has been completely
redesigned from top to bottom based on real-life user experiences with
pet loss and activity tracking. The setup process has been
dramatically simplified and the new framework creates a platform for
interesting future applications, including clinical trials,
    partnership APIs, and more.
  • Redesigned to fit more pets of all shapes and sizes. Whistle 3
hardware underwent a total overhaul, resulting in an on-collar device
that is 50% smaller than previous models, weighs less than an ounce,
and is both durable and waterproof to go anywhere a pet does.

“Until Whistle entered the market, pet loss intervention and
preventative care was a system of hoping for the best without much
reliable information about your pet’s specific needs,” said Ben Jacobs,
CEO and Co-founder of Whistle. “With the largest database of pet
location and activity data, we can better understand how to prevent the
biggest risks our pets face – like loss and obesity-related illnesses.
Our goal with Whistle 3 is to make the world of pet care smarter, and
more responsible, so pet owners can have peace of mind while they focus
on the best parts of sharing life with a pet.”

Americans are spending more money on pet care than ever before. This
year the pet industry is projected
to take in $63 billion
, according
to the American Pet Product Association (APPA)
. The market for pet
care devices alone will exceed $2
billion by 2023
. Founded in 2012 and one of the earliest entrants to
the pet care technology market, Whistle has helped bring pet-first
solutions to market. To date, Whistle has sold roughly 200,000 devices
to pet owners who want to keep better track of their pet’s location and
daily activity.
