Kraft Heinz Creates Stuffle – A New Way to Serve up Your Thanksgiving Leftovers
PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Each Thanksgiving, millions of families gather around the table to give
thanks, rejoice, and celebrate. While more than 46 million turkeys are
eaten in the U.S. on Thanksgiving Day, the days following the holiday
are centered on the leftovers.
During November 2014, consumers purchased more than 25 million jars of
Heinz HomeStyle Gravy, over 17 million of which were purchased during
Thanksgiving week alone. And on average, about 40 million boxes of Stove
Top Stuffing Mix are sold from October through December.
With all that gravy and stuffing, there are bound to be leftovers.
Everyone makes their usual homemade turkey sandwich, but what about a
new way to enjoy those leftovers?
The chefs at Kraft Heinz have developed a recipe for a stuffle – a twist
on your typical leftover treat including turkey, stuffing and gravy.
What makes it unique is that you use your waffle iron to create golden
brown stuffing slices to hold all of the components together.
“It is a delicious and fun alternative to the traditional turkey
sandwich,” said Amy Donato, Associate Brand Manager for the Heinz
Brands. “And it is a new way to utilize your waffle iron or other
countertop presses and grills.”
You even use your leftover cranberry sauce in the stuffle.
“For over 40 years, Stove Top Stuffing has been an integral part
of many Thanksgiving traditions,” said Colin Litow, Associate Brand
Manager on Stove Top. “And now, we’ve created a whole new way to
enjoy your stuffing and gravy leftovers!”
Follow these instructions to make your own Ultimate Leftover
Thanksgiving “Stuffle.”
Prep Time: 30 min. | Makes: 6 servings
What You Need:
| 1 | pkg. (6 oz.) STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Turkey | |||
| 2 | eggs, beaten | |||
| 3/4 | cup HEINZ HomeStyle Roasted Turkey Gravy | |||
| 3/4 | lb. leftover roasted turkey, sliced | |||
| 1/3 | cup cranberry sauce | |||
| 1 | Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley |
Make It:
Prepare stuffing as directed on package. Cool 10 min. Meanwhile, spray
electric waffle iron with cooking spray. Heat iron to medium heat.
Add eggs to stuffing; mix well. Spoon about 1/2 cup stuffing mixture
onto center of each waffle grid section. Close lid slowly, pressing
gently to evenly distribute stuffing mixture. Cook 4 to 5 min. or until
“waffle” is firm and golden brown. When done, lift waffle off grid with
fork. Repeat with remaining stuffing mixture to make additional waffles.
Meanwhile, warm gravy as directed on label. While gravy is warming,
reheat turkey in microwaveable container on HIGH 1 to 2 min. or until
heated through.
Spread waffles with cranberry sauce; top with turkey, gravy and parsley.
Note:
This is a great way to use leftover prepared stuffing. To reheat
refrigerated leftover stuffing before use, spoon 3 cups prepared
stuffing into microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1-1/2 min. or just
until warmed. Add 2 beaten eggs, then use as directed.
Nutrition Information Per Serving: 310 calories, 12g total fat, 2.5g
saturated fat, 2g trans-fat, 120mg cholesterol, 680mg sodium, 29g
carbohydrate, less than 1g dietary fiber, 8g sugars, 22g protein, 10%DV
vitamin A, 2%DV vitamin C, 4%DV calcium, 10%DV iron.
