Lezhin Entertainment Announces Its 3rd Lezhin Comics World Comic Contest
Grand Prize Winner Will Receive $100,000

SEOUL, South Korea–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#lezhin–Lezhin Comics, the largest paid digital comics platform in Korea
announces its 3rd World Comic Contest to discover and showcase new
talent and develop creators’ professional careers in South Korea, Japan,
China and the United States. Artists can submit their work in these
respective languages.
Launched in South Korea in 2013, and Japan and the United States in
2015, Lezhin Comics hosts over 3,000 comics and has 7 million readers
worldwide. Lezhin Comics publishes comic books in a digital
scrolling-down format known in English as a “Webtoon.” Their comics come
in a variety of genres and styles including manga and manhwa. Their app
is on iOS, Android™ and Google Play.
The contest begins now and the grand prize winner will receive $100,000
US dollars! The second place winner receives $20,000 and third place
receives $3,000.
There is no limit to how many comics one person can submit, however,
each contestant can only win a single prize. All comics and copyrights
must be creator-owned, and if any submission hints plagiarism, tracing
or piracy, the artist will not be eligible, nor receive the award or
global publishing opportunity.
The webtoon industry is big in Korea and growing worldwide. Many paid
comics are suffering from piracy and displayed on ‘new manga’
web-hosting sites as new, but are most often illegal.
Lezhin Entertainment offer artists royalties and sources of revenue
which is reviving the comic book industry and sustain itself digitally
with rewarding talented artists with income and opportunity. In South
Korea, Lezhin Comics partnered with more than 450 artists, 270 of which
debuted through Lezhin’s digital comics platform.
