National Association of Women Lawyers Urges Administration to Respect the Constitution’s Separation of Powers and the Dignity of the Federal Judiciary

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) objects to the recent
public statements by President Trump aimed at undermining the
credibility and independence of the third branch of government, the
federal judiciary. We call on President Trump and his administration to
respect the legal process and to cease the personal insults aimed at a
judiciary that is sworn to uphold our laws and courts. The Judicial
Branch’s independence from the Executive and Legislative Branches was
purposely conceived by our nation’s founding fathers to ensure that we
are governed by the rule of law, not by the shifting winds of politics.

Since 1899, NAWL has empowered women in the legal profession and will
continue to fight to protect and advance laws that ensure equality for
women and their ability to advance to the highest levels of our
profession. By respecting the separation of powers within our
government, we ensure the checks and balances of sound government and
the protection it affords to us all.

The National Association of Women Lawyers is a non-political
501(c)(6) organization.
The mission of the National Association
of Women Lawyers is to provide leadership, a collective voice, and
essential resources to advance women in the legal profession and
advocate for the equality of women under the law. Since 1899, NAWL has
been empowering women in the legal profession, cultivating a diverse
membership dedicated to equality, mutual support, and collective
success. If you are not already a member, please considering joining.
NAWL welcomes the membership of individual attorneys, including private
practice, corporate, academic, government and non-profit attorneys, and
groups, including law firms, corporate legal departments, law schools,
