Nexus Names Tamarah Gehlen as Corporate Director of Training

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nexus, a leading provider of solutions for youth and family struggling
with emotional and behavioral issues, has named Tamarah Lynn Gehlen as
its new Corporate Director of Training. The newly added position will
help ensure Nexus continues to deliver the best and most effective
services for youth mental health care in an increasingly competitive
market.

The new position will maintain consistency in practices and training
efforts across Nexus sites, while also providing additional learning
experiences for employees, according to Vice President of Clinical
Services, Dr. Michelle K. Murray.

“If we want our staff to provide the best service, we have to ensure
that they are provided with the best tools,” said Dr. Murray. “Training
is a commitment on the part of the organization to ensure that our staff
are well equipped to provide the best care to those we serve.”

Gehlen comes to Nexus with extensive experience in training, staff
developing, and public speaking. She holds a bachelor’s degree in family
life education, a certification in addiction counseling, and has a
master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. In addition to her
previous employment with various organizations, she is also the owner of
Gehlen Counseling & Consulting, a speaking and staff development
organization.

In her new role at Nexus, Gehlen will focus on five primary areas:

  • Promoting Nexus foundational trainings related to the organization’s
    values, embedding Nexus culture, ensuring consistency of core
    practices, and promoting the Nexus Practice Model;
  • Supporting supervisor development;
  • Developing a training curriculum for clinicians;
  • Developing, coordinating, and conducting department-specific
    trainings, as requested or required; and
  • Sustaining internal training efforts that previously had been provided
    by external vendors.

Dr. Murray said the Corporate Director of Training position will augment
current training initiatives.

“Our goal for this position is to support current site training
activities, and to provide new services that would stretch increasingly
tightening budgets,” said Dr. Murray. “Our sites have done a great job
training their staff; that’s evident by their strong reputations as
leaders in youth and family solutions. However, we also know that county
and state funding will continue to shrink — this position will help
ensure that our sites continue to lead the industry.”
