Pan-American Life Insurance Group Announces Retirement of Long Standing Board Members John Kelly, Robert Pettit and Redfield Bryan

Today, Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG), a leading provider of insurance and financial services throughout the Americas, announced the retirement of John J. Kelly; Dr. Redfield E. Bryan; and Robert L. Pettit, Jr. from the company’s Board of Directors.

Mr. John J. Kelly joined Pan-American Life Insurance Company’s Board of Directors in 1994 and became Chairman in 2004. Under his leadership significant changes were made to the structure of the management team and Board of Directors, and he was instrumental in recruiting José S. Suquet, current Chairman of the Board, President and CEO. Mr. Kelly has served as Pan-American Life’s Chairman Emeritus and Lead Director since 2008.

A native of Queens, New York, Kelly received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1956, and in 1966 earned an MBA from St. John’s University in Queens. During Kelly’s professional career at Textron, Inc. he was President of Textron Marine & Land Systems in New Orleans and previously was President of Bell Aerospace Textron in Buffalo, New York where he was key to the manufacturing of the lunar ascent engine which was crucial to getting Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin off the moon and back to the Apollo 11 Command Module.

In addition to his successful career in aerospace and defense development, Mr. Kelly has been active with other organizations. He served as a director of the Whitney Bank for twenty-two years, and is also a founding director of the WWII Museum in New Orleans, as well as a founding member and former chairman of the Louisiana Technology Council. He is a founding member and former chairman of the Louisiana Committee of 100, and a founding member and former vice-chairman of the New Orleans Business Council. He also served on the board of directors of Rivada Networks LLC from 2005-2010.

Dr. Redfield E. Bryan joined Pan-American Life’s Board of Directors in 1994. After obtaining his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University and completing his internship and residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Dr. Bryan went on to practice as a board certified urologist from 1967 until his retirement in 1997. He is now a consultant for FMOLHS Health System. Dr. Bryan is a founding member of The Urology Group and past chairman of Regions Bank of Baton Rouge and Guaranty Bank Corporation.

Mr. Robert L. Pettit, Jr., a member of Pan-American Life’s board since 1976, is a former Senior Investment Management Consultant and Executive Director of Equitas Capital Advisors, LLC. Prior to that position, he served as a Vice President of Prudential Securities from 1993 to 2002. Mr. Pettit is a member of the N.B.A. Legends Foundation board of directors as well as a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association.
