PicoBrew Named CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honoree

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PicoBrew
has been named a CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Eco-Design
and Sustainable Technologies product category. The Seattle-based company
garnered accolades for PicoPaks,
biodegradable ingredient packs designed to produce five liters of
top-quality craft beer from award-winning craft breweries around the
world and purpose-built for PicoBrew’s newest craft beer brewing
appliance, the Pico.
Products entered in the prestigious program are judged by a preeminent
panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and
members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering
in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product
categories.

The new Pico enables craft beer enthusiasts to brew fresh,
brewpub-quality beer using PicoPaks available on PicoBrew’s BrewMarketplace,
which includes beers from award-winning breweries worldwide and
prominent breweries such as Rogue Ales and Oakshire Brewing. The Pico,
which is about the size of a home espresso machine, brews five liters
(or about 13 bottles) of beer at a time. Users can adjust bitterness and
alcohol levels during the brew cycle to customize their beer. Automatic
steam cleaning and dishwasher-safe trays make cleanup easy.

“This award recognizes our commitment to building an environmentally
conscious and leading-edge product,” said Bill Mitchell, CEO of
PicoBrew. “We wanted to create an appliance that brings brewery-fresh,
high-quality beer to any kitchen in an eco-friendly way. By using sugar
husk to create the PicoPaks, we have set our product apart. After the
completion of a brew, the PicoPaks are fully compostable.”

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer
Technology Association (CTA)TM, the producer of CES 2017, the
global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer
technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design
and engineering since 1976.

The Pico
will be displayed at CES 2017, which runs Jan. 5-8, 2017, in Las Vegas,
Nevada. A selection of honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled
New York, which features dozens of exhibitors and networking
opportunities and runs 3-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, at the
Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design
qualities, intended use/function and user value, unique/novel features
present and how the design and innovation of the product directly
compares to other products in the marketplace.

Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and
engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services
coming to market.

CES 2017 Innovation Honoree products are featured on CES.tech/Innovation,
which lists product categories, as well as each product name,
manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
