Samsung Launches Kid-Friendly Service to Promote Fun and Engaging Mobile Learning Experiences

Samsung Kids Provides a Safe and Ad-Free Environment Exclusive to the
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite Tablet

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Samsung Electronics America today introduced Samsung Kids, a new service
that offers parents and their children a library of top quality
educational content that evolves as a child ages. Exclusively available
on the kid-friendly Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite tablet bundled with a
kid-safe bumper, Samsung Kids service provides fun and educational
content children will love, while offering parents the peace of mind
that comes with a safe, ad-free, mobile environment for their children.

The all-inclusive subscription service offers educational, yet
entertaining, content and apps mapped to Common Core Standards with an
emphasis on STEM learning.

Samsung collaborated with Fingerprint, a leading children’s education
and entertainment company, to help design and develop an innovative,
kid-friendly experience anchored by brands and characters children
already love from DreamWorks Animation, The Jim Henson Company,
Highlights for Children, HiT Entertainment, National Geographic, PBS
KIDS, Sesame Workshop and other popular children’s content creators.

“Samsung Kids delivers on the promise of fun learning combined with a
safe, high-value proposition for parents,” said John Pleasants,
executive vice president at Samsung Media Solutions Center America.
“We’ve created an engaging experience that gets kids playing in less
than five minutes and keeps them learning for hours.”

The fun learning service features an interactive dial user interface
(UI), echoing the intuitive and instant discovery UI of Samsung Milk
Music. The Samsung Kids UI loads directly at boot-up providing an
interface that offers categories such as:

  • “Featured,” which showcases the latest apps;
  • “Starter Pack,” with more than 20 apps valued at $75;
  • “Games,” including word games, puzzles, books and more; and
  • “My Stuff,” where kids can return to apps already downloaded.

Along with a robust library of engaging content and apps handpicked by
child development and educational experts, Samsung Kids helps parents
monitor and control their children’s mobile experience. The convenient
dashboard lets them limit how much time their child can spend on the
tablet and apps, as well as monitor what content their child has been
enjoying and how they are progressing. Parents can monitor time spent on
educational content versus playing games. Once a child has reached the
set time limits, they will need to get parental permission to access the
content further.

Samsung Kids is now available for a subscription price of $4.99 per
month with purchase of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite tablet (suggested
retail price of Samsung Kids is $7.99 per month). This includes all the
content available in the Samsung Kids library, ensuring no in-app
purchases and no advertisements. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite tablet
comes with a 3-month trial of the service and launches with hundreds of
educational apps all mapped to Common Core Standards, with new apps
added monthly for a renewed experience. Kids can get playing and
learning quickly with more than 20 starter-pack apps, which are also
available to non-subscribers, a $75 value.

Beginning today, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite tablet is on sale at Best
