Gordon and Rally collaborated with the Armed Services YMCA San Diego
to host an event that included fitness activities and brand new
Diamondback bikes for 52 kids and their families

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Digital health company Rally
Health
SM and San Diego Chargers running back Melvin
Gordon hosted a “Holiday Bike Build” event today at the Coronado Naval
Base (Admiral Prout Field), where 52 children of service members
stationed at the base were invited to build and “trick out” brand new
Diamondback bikes that they got to take home. Gordon, a Health
Ambassador for Rally Health, emceed and participated with the kids and
their families in the two-hour event, which was organized in
collaboration with the Armed
Services YMCA San Diego
.

Joining Gordon to help the kids build their new bikes and adorn them
with decorations were Rally Cycling pro riders Evan Huffman, Jesse
Anthony, Emerson Oronte and Heather Fischer, as well as staffers from
Diamondback. All of the activities at the event were designed to
showcase some of the simple steps families can take to live healthier
lives. The children and more than 300 family members had the opportunity
to play a memory game, work on a giant crossword puzzle and sign Rally’s
“What Are You Grateful For” wall. The event concluded with a 2-mile bike
ride led by the Rally Cycling pro cyclists for all the participants.

“There are few things more exciting for a kid than getting a brand new
bike, and the good news about bikes is that they’re fun to ride and
offer a really great form of exercise,” said Gordon. “Today, as a Rally
Health Ambassador, I wanted to encourage families to move more and focus
on their health. But more importantly, Rally Health and I wanted to give
back to these families and say thank you.”

Rally Health’s Health Ambassador Program works with celebrities and
professional athletes to inspire and empower people everywhere to take
an active role in managing their health and health care. In April 2016,
Gordon joined actor and comedian Kevin Hart and Miami Dolphins’ Jarvis
Landry as a Rally Health Ambassador.
