Telemundo Media Names Sylvia Rosabal Senior Vice President of Network News

Telemundo Media, the fastest growing Spanish-language broadcast network,

announced today that Sylvia Rosabal has been named Senior Vice President

of Network News. Rosabal will report to Alina Falcon, Executive Vice

President, News and Alternative Programming, effective immediately.

Bringing over 25 years of news experience, Rosabal will oversee all

network news content and be responsible for editorial direction,

programming, and production of on-air and online news properties

including the award-winning nightly newscast, “Noticiero Telemundo;” the

Sunday news program, “Enfoque con Jose Diaz-Balart;” and the news

content of Telemundo’s morning program “Levantate,” as well as other

related network news programming such as breaking news and specials. She

also will have operational oversight of the network’s daily news

magazine program, “Al Rojo Vivo,” hosted by Emmy-award winning

journalist Maria Celeste Arraras. In her role, Rosabal will play a key

role in strengthening the synergies with Telemundo’s owned and operated

stations and leveraging the relationship with and expertise of NBC News,

the leading source of global news and information for more than 75 years.

content,” said Falcon. “She has a deep understanding of Hispanic America

and a proven track record in journalism excellence that will strengthen

the connection with our audience and help us drive growth across all our

network news properties.“

Rosabal joins Telemundo Media from Univision, where she was Vice

President of the news division from 2002 to 2011 and oversaw all aspects

of the network’s news department. She also was responsible for a broad

array of Univision’s news programming including the nightly news

broadcast, political coverage, news magazines, public affairs programs,

news specials, and breaking news coverage. Rosabal also spearheaded

overall technological advances in the news department and oversaw all

non-sports coverage and activities for the 2006 and 2010 FIFA© World

Cups.

Prior to that, Rosabal served as Univision’s Assistant News Director

from 1995 to 2002, where she supervised day-to-day news operations.

Previously, she was named Executive Producer in 1991, where she was the

head of political coverage and special events.

Rosabal is a recipient of several industry awards including the Edward

R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast and two Emmy© awards for outstanding

news coverage, as well as three regional Emmy awards in the News

Documentary and Political Coverage categories. She is a member of the

National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and the National

Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).

Rosabal holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Miami,

Coral Gables, Florida and completed the Executive Management Seminar at

the Missouri School of Journalism, University of Missouri.
