The film, which features the voice talent of the hit Disney XD show,
follows Nate Adams and his Yo-kai friends, Whisper and Jibanyan, as
they’re transported to the past to help Nate’s grandfather, Nathaniel,
battle evil Yo-kai and invent the Yo-kai Watch. Created and developed by
LEVEL-5, YO-KAI WATCH is a fantasy role-playing game and Anime series
which depicts a world where “Yo-kai” (supernatural beings only seen by
using a special device, the Yo-kai Watch, responsible for everyone’s
daily annoyances) co-exist with humans and affect their day-to-day lives.

YO-KAI WATCH’s popularity soared as the TV anime based on the game began
broadcasting across six TV Tokyo-affiliated networks in 2014. The
original game was released in North America by Nintendo in November of
2015. The property debuted in the U.S. in 2015 and includes a TV series
on Disney XD, a series of games for the Nintendo 3DS, a Hasbro toy line
and apps available for iOS and Android systems. In its initial release
in Japan, YO-KAI WATCH: THE MOVIE was so popular that it set a
box office record for advance ticket sales and was the highest-grossing
Japanese film in 2015.

“Fathom Events is proud to, once again, present the very best animated
entertainment from Japan in U.S. movie theaters,” said Fathom Events CEO
John Rubey. “We are pleased to continue our relationship with ELEVEN
ARTS and to partner for the first time with LEVEL-5 to bring fans this
all-time favorite.”
