Troops for Fitness Kick-Off Event, Friday, May 27, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–OneVet OneVoice will host a kick-off event this Friday at 12:30 p.m. to
launch a new Troops for Fitness program.

“Troops for Fitness is a win-win, helping San Francisco residents learn
fun ways to keep in shape in our city while creating jobs for our
veterans,” said Eddie Ramirez, Chief Executive Officer, OneVet OneVoice.

The Troops for Fitness program is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation
and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). With the
assistance of OneVet OneVoice and the Cooper Institute, all veterans in
the program have completed the Personal Trainer Course and are required
to pass the Cooper Institute Certified Personal Trainer (CI-CPT) exam
enabling them to teach fitness and nutrition classes. Together they’ll
help inspire healthier, active lifestyles among San Francisco residents.

Totaling $145,000, the grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation to NRPA will
help OneVet OneVoice marshal fitness resources through multiple
initiatives. The funding will help OneVet OneVoice offer programs and
classes instructed by military veterans in San Francisco. The veterans
will lead activities including yoga, karate, and a boot camp workout.

“Our nation’s military veterans have tremendous skills and training such
as leadership and teamwork – as well as expertise in fitness and
physical activity – which go hand in hand with parks and recreation,”
said Barbara Tulipane, President and CEO of NRPA. “We are so pleased to
bring the Troops for Fitness program to San Francisco because it is our
hope that more people will be motivated to live healthy, active
lifestyles and be inspired by the veterans leading the program.”

Troops for Fitness helps demonstrate the commitment to promote balanced
living. The program supports veteran employment and demonstrates how
partnering with local communities can have a meaningful impact.

“Together with OneVet OneVoice, we are creating jobs and economic
opportunity for some of our nation’s heroes,” said David Carey, Market
Unit General Manager, Coca-Cola Refreshments.

The kick-off event is scheduled for this Friday, May 27, 2016 from 12:30
pm to 1:30 p.m. The event, free and open to the public, will offer
residents an opportunity to learn more about the programs offered
through Troops for Fitness.
