TTPM Reveals Top Toys and Industry Trends for 2016 Holiday Season

Entertainment, Preschool, Classic, and Tech Toys Top TTPM’s Annual
Most Wanted List

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#TTPM–During its ninth annual Holiday Showcase press event, TTPM®,
the leading review site for toys, tots, pets, and more, today announced
its Holiday 2016 Most Wanted List, which features top toys for the 2016
holiday season. TTPM also commented on trends in the toy business for
the current quarter.

The TTPM
Most Wanted List
is an independently reviewed and curated list of
the season’s most sought-after toys and kids’ lifestyle accessories. The
list features the year’s “hot” products, the ones that consumers will be
asking for, looking for and that will create buzz in the culture at
large.

“This has been a banner year for the toy business,” said Jim Silver,
CEO/editor-in-chief for TTPM. “The combination of classic innovation,
more affordable technology and a boom in kids’ entertainment have
resulted in an unprecedented number of toys delivering great play
experiences in all categories.”

“The toys on this list only scratch the surface of what we have
positively reviewed this year,” said Chris Byrne, EVP and content
director for TTPM. “We’ve identified top overall toys, and our
complementary, Most
Wanted by Category
list reflects the diverse nature of the business
and the way consumers shop for their individual kids. We anticipate a
strong toy season, and we believe that there are at least 50 that will
be very hard to get by December 15.”

The 2016 TTPM Most Wanted List features 20 top toys that fit into four
trend categories:

  • ENTERTAINMENT DRIVES INCREASED DEMAND FOR RELATED TOYS

In 2016, there are more entertainment properties inspiring more
in-demand toys this year. Two major films are likely to dominate the
holiday season: DreamWorks Trolls and Star Wars: Rogue One.
Toys at all price points and from a variety of manufacturers are
expected to be strong sellers, and include Star
Wars Rogue One Elite Series
from The Disney Store, Star
Wars Smart R2-D2
from Hasbro, and LEGO
Star Wars Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle
from LEGO, Trolls
Poppy’s Fashion Frenzy
from Hasbro and DreamWorks
Trolls Poppy Style Station
from Just Play.

Television properties include the hottest preschool show, PAW Patrol,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
and the new
hit, Elena of Avalor. Most Wanted products include Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles Half-Shell Headquarters Playset
from Playmates
Toys, Elena
of Avalor and Princess Isabel
from Hasbro, PAW
Patrol Jungle Rescue Monkey Temple
from Spin Master, and Mickey
Mouse Clubhouse Hot Diggity Dancing Mickey
from Just Play.

  • PRESCHOOL TOYS MARRY CLASSIC PLAY WITH TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Classic preschool play stays fairly constant over time. Innovation comes
from new and engaging ways toymakers deliver basic activities and new
experiences to foster exploration and early learning. In 2016, that
innovation comes from ingenious use of technology. Preschool toys
predicted to be sell outs include Touch
and Learn Activity Desk Deluxe
from VTech, the Go!
Go! Smart Friends Enchanted Princess Palace
from VTech, and the Bright
Beats Dance & Move BeatBowWow
from Fisher-Price.

  • CLASSIC TOYS CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT OF PLAY

Even with all the technology available to them, kids and families still
seek out classic toys. From imaginative, empowering play to fun and
memorable human interactions, these toys deliver experiences no device
can match. Key classic items for 2016 include Hasbro’s Pie
Face Showdown
, Shopkins
Chef’s Club
from Moose Toys and Barbie
Fashionistas
from Mattel.

  • TECH TOYS BECOME MORE PLAYFUL

Technology alone doesn’t impress kids today. Concurrent with dropping
prices for tech, innovative toy manufacturers are incorporating rich
play experiences that just happen to be chip driven. The human factor is
very much in evidence in this year’s top tech toys, which include FurReal
Friends Torch, My Blazin’ Dragon
from Hasbro, Hatchimals from Spin
Master, Hello
Barbie Dreamhouse
from Mattel, Sky
Viper Hover Racer
from Skyrocket Toys, and Zoomer
Chimp
from Spin Master.

TTPM today also announced the Most
Wanted List by Product Category
, which recognizes the outstanding
toys and family entertainment products in 21 categories. Acknowledging
that an overall hot list may not address the needs of individual
consumers shopping for their children, the TTPM editorial team has
identified the top 6-7 toys in each category to help them identify the
best toys for their kids.
