UnitedHealthcare of Ohio Ranks Highest in J.D. Power Member Health Plan Study

  • UnitedHealthcare of Ohio also achieved highest scores in care
    provider choice, claims processing, cost, and coverage and benefits

COLUMBUS, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–UnitedHealthcare of Ohio received the J.D. Power award for ranking
highest in overall member satisfaction among commercial health plans in
Ohio, according to the J.D. Power 2016 Member Satisfaction Study.
UnitedHealthcare of Ohio also achieved the highest score in four of the
six study factors in the region, which include care provider choice,
cost, coverage and benefits, and claims processing.

“Every customer and employer we serve has unique health care needs. The
combination of our local market focus with our national resources
enables us to help enhance the health and well-being of the more than
1.3 million people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare employer and individual
health plans,” said Dan Ohman, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Central Region. “We
are grateful to earn this recognition from the customers we serve.”

J.D. Power surveyed a random sample of commercial health plan customers
in Ohio on their experience with their health plan and compared the
results to the national benchmark established by J.D. Power. The survey
asked respondents to rate their experiences with UnitedHealthcare of
Ohio on a set of six key drivers of satisfaction: coverage and benefits;
cost; provider choice; customer service; information and communication;
and claims processing.

The 2016 Member Satisfaction Study includes responses from nearly 32,000
commercial health plan participants. People were surveyed online in
November and December 2015. The study examines the member satisfaction
performance of 135 health insurance plan companies in 18 regions across
the United States, and focuses on performance areas in which health
plans can influence or control to improve the experiences of their
customers. The 2016 study includes people who individually purchased
their health insurance, and excludes those who purchased health
insurance on the state or federal exchanges.

UnitedHealthcare serves more than 2 million Ohioans enrolled in
employer-sponsored, individual, Medicare and Medicaid health plans with
a care provider network of 260 hospitals and more than 46,000 care
providers statewide.
