Utz® Brand Hot & Spicy Pork Rinds Chicharrones Voluntarily Recalled Because of Undeclared Allergen

HANOVER, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Utz® Quality Foods is recalling all lots of 3.5 oz. Utz® Hot & Spicy
Pork Rinds Chicharrones because the product may contain the allergen
wheat which is not declared on the label. For those who are allergic to
wheat, this allergen can cause swelling, itching or irritation of the
mouth or throat, hives, itchy rash or swelling of the skin, nasal
congestion, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, headache, cramps,
diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.

A single SKU, the 3.5 oz. Utz® Hot and Spicy Pork Rinds Chicharrones is
being recalled. This product was distributed to retail outlets in
eighteen (18) states in the Northeast and Midwest.

NO ILLNESSES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL HAVE BEEN REPORTED.

All lots of this product are being recalled.

NO OTHER UTZ PRODUCTS ARE BEING RECALLED.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) alerted Utz’s supplier that the
wrong recipe may have been used in this product resulting in the use of
ingredients not declared on the label. Utz® is working to replenish
supplies of 3.5 oz Utz® Hot & Spicy Pork Rinds Chicharrones made with
the correct recipe as quickly as possible.

Consumers with wheat allergens are urged NOT to eat this product.
Consumers who purchased this product may return it to the store where it
was purchased for a full refund or exchange, or they may simply discard
the product.
