Virtual Academies Welcome Students for the 2016–2017 School Year

— K-12 students return to online public school August 29 –

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–For many area students, back to school is as simple turning on their
computers and logging into class this fall. These students are enrolled
with the full-time, online public charter schools, California Virtual
Academy @ Fresno, California Virtual Academy @ Kings and California
Virtual Academy @ Jamestown, three of 10 independent charter schools in
California that use the K12 online curriculum to offer students an
exceptional learning experience. CAVA @ Fresno is open to students in
grades K through 8, while CAVA @ Kings and CAVA @ Jamestown are open to
students in grades K through 12.

The online school setting is chosen by families enrolled in CAVA @
Fresno, CAVA @ Kings and CAVA @ Jamestown for a wide variety of reasons.
Whereas advanced learners can enroll in Advanced Placement^®
courses or take college courses through the dual enrollment program,
online school also allows for a more personalized one-on-one learning
environment for students seeking extra assistance. Regardless the
reason, the innovative curriculum and technology combined with a strong
partnership between families and teachers makes it possible to focus on
each student’s academic needs.

Students follow an academic program that includes engaging web-based
lessons along with age-appropriate instructional materials – books,
videos, CDs and other hands-on tools and resources – which are shipped
directly to each student’s home. Common household and office supplies
(e.g. printer ink and paper) are not included in the materials sent.
California-credentialed teachers provide instruction, guidance and
support, and interact with students and parents via email, web-based
classrooms, online discussions, phone and face-to-face meetings.

In addition to academics, CAVA @ Fresno, CAVA @ Kings and CAVA @
Jamestown teachers organize numerous field trips and school activities
where students have the opportunity to participate in events for
socialization. CAVA @ Fresno also offers a program called Community Day
that combines the best of online learning with weekly face-to-face
interaction. On Community Days, students receive instruction from
teachers in math and language arts and participate in various other
educational activities, such as PE and science fairs, while parents
receive support and network with other parents.
