Visionworks and “Steve Harvey” Team up to Provide Eye Exams and Glasses for Children in Need

National eyewear brand to amplify Let’s Go See efforts with
“Steve Harvey” partnership

SAN ANTONIO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Visionworks, a national eyewear retailer with over 660 locations
nationwide, announced today its partnership with the national daytime
talk show, “Steve Harvey” to boost awareness of its back-to-school
initiative, Let’s Go See. This back-to-school season,
Visionworks and Davis Vision committed to raising awareness of the
importance of annual eye exams. During the show, scheduled to air
September 23 (check local listings), Visionworks and “Steve Harvey” will
follow three school-age children through the process of getting an eye
exam and fitted for a pair of glasses at a local Chicago Visionworks, as
part of its national back-to-school initiative.

Sophia, a six-year old from Washington state has worn the same style
glasses since she was 17 months old. Born with amblyopia, more commonly
known as lazy eye, Sophia has undergone surgery to strengthen her eye
muscles. The six-year old wants upgrade to “big girl glasses” before she
starts first grade. Richard and Robert, twin seven-year olds from
Florida have worn glasses since they were nine months old. Both boys
were diagnosed with accommodative esotropia, which causes their eyes to
wander when they are not wearing their glasses. Between the two, their
mom has had to replace at least 20 frames because the basic frames
covered by their insurance always break. Both boys play sports, but
cannot get back out on the field until they have more durable glasses
for their rough and tumble lifestyle.

The Girls With Glasses, better known as Brooke White (singer/songwriter)
and Summer Bellessa (model/ELIZA Magazine editor), will help Sophia,
Richard and Robert go back to school in style. In addition to new
back-to-school clothes, The Girls with Glasses will surprise all three
kids with the most important back-to-school accessory – Visionworks
frames to complete their looks. “We’re excited to help these kids rock a
fashionable pair of frames,” said Bellessa. White added, “Having the
confidence to succeed in school and beyond begins with healthy vision
and we’re thrilled to be able to help these kids start the school year
off right!”

“As a company, we’re passionate about ensuring children receive proper
eye care on a routine basis. Knowing that one in four children has a
vision problem, we launched Let’s Go See to help raise
awareness of this important eye health issue,” said Jim Eisen, president
and CEO of HVHC Inc., and president of Visionworks. “When you think
about the fact that 80 percent of everything children learn comes
through their eyes, it’s a pretty compelling reason to get your
children’s eyes examined every year before school starts,” added Eisen.

Tune in to “Steve Harvey” on September 23 to watch Sophia, Richard and
Robert receive their annual eye exams and glasses. In addition to
helping these kids go back-to-school with even more confidence,
Visionworks will provide all “Steve Harvey” studio audience members a Let’s
Go See
gift bag, which includes Nike Sunglasses and a Pay It
Forward voucher to help a child in need see a brighter future. Viewers
