Volunteers Needed for IICF’s 2015 Week of Giving Events Across the United States

  • More than 200 public service events to take place
  • Personal giving campaign will support IICF’s Early Literacy
    Initiative

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The
Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation
(IICF), a nonprofit
organization funded by the insurance industry, is recruiting volunteers
for its annual Week
of Giving event
, held nationwide from October 10-17. The Week of
Giving is an eight-day, industry-wide team and individual volunteer
event during which participants provide three or more hours of volunteer
service to local nonprofit organizations across the country.

More than 200 volunteer events will be hosted in over 87 cities across
the United States during the Week of Giving. Projects cover a broad
range of service areas including: education, food programs, homeless
programs, youth and children, housing, health, arts, women’s issues,
disability, senior issues, and disaster preparedness.

More than 6,000 volunteers from over 100 companies are expected to join
IICF for this year’s Week of Giving. IICF continues to call for more
volunteers to participate by signing up on their website, www.weekofgiving.iicf.org
or by contacting the IICF office at (925) 280-8009.

In addition to organizing volunteer projects, IICF Week of Giving also
promotes a personal giving campaign. Donations directly benefit IICF’s
Early Literacy Initiative and Every Day is a Reading and Writing Day
program. Every Day is a Reading and Writing Day is part of a partnership
between IICF and Sesame Street, established as part of the IICF’s Early
Literacy Initiative. The partnership was started in 2013 as a
significant push by the insurance industry to strategically impact
literacy development among underserved children.

Through October, individuals can make a contribution of any size online
at www.weekofgiving.iicf.org.
Support can also be provided via the IICF’s #5forELI campaign, a social
media-focused fundraising drive that seeks to drum up grassroots
donations for the Early Literacy Initiative. To drive further awareness
and grassroots donations, donors are asked to share their support on
social media via the #5forELI hashtag.

One hundred percent of donations designated to Week of Giving – as well
as all donations via the #5forELI program – will go to support Sesame
Workshop and the IICF Early Literacy Inititiave.
