Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital Breaks Ground on New Facility

Prominent Colorado animal hospital expands to 37,000 square feet to
meet growing demand

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Wheat
Ridge Animal Hospital
, a leading provider of veterinary care, broke
ground on its new hospital today. The state-of-the-art facility is
expected to be complete by spring 2017 and will continue to offer the
highest quality care available to pets and their owners.


The new building will be located at 44th and Kipling in Wheat
Ridge, Colo. and will be approximately 37,000 square feet. The new
facility is designed for additional growth and will allow for the
expansion of current and new specialties, like the recently added sports
medicine/rehabilitation, pain management, and ophthalmology. The new
facility will help staff provide a higher level of patient care with
dedicated treatment centers.

Additional enhancements will include:

  • Seven surgery suites
  • Dedicated emergency triage center
  • Dedicated intensive care unit (ICU)
  • Imaging center with a new 26-slice CT scanner and MRI
  • Dedicated dental suite
  • Physical therapy/rehabilitation center
  • Ophthalmology services
  • In-house reference laboratory
  • Expanded animal blood bank
  • Conference/training center
  • Additional patient examination rooms

The hospital was founded in Wheat Ridge, Colo. in 1955 as a one-person
general practice. In 1994, Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital merged with
Denver Veterinary Specialists to combine the general practice and
specialty referral practice. Earlier this year, Wheat Ridge Animal
Hospital joined three other specialty hospitals to become a part of Ethos
Veterinary Health
, a provider of specialty and emergency care for
pets with 14 locations across the U.S.

Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital has maintained accreditation through the
American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1963 and became one of
the first hospitals in the United States to become accredited through
the new AAHA referral practice standards and internship program
