LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–More than 20 Southern California labor organizations will gather on
Monday, September 7 to celebrate and commemorate both the history and
future of Labor Day at Working Californians’ Fourth Annual Nightshift
concert. This annual event not only benefits working men, women and
their families, but also recognizes labor victories made this past year
throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.

This year’s festival once again features a superstar line-up that
includes the Godfather of Funk and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend
George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, Grammy-nominated jazz singer and
percussionist Sheila E., Jamaican reggae act The Wailers, who, along
with Bob Marley have sold over 250 million albums worldwide, and the
James Andrews New Orleans All Star Band featuring Deacon John, Cyril
Neville, Leo Nocentelli of the Meters, Rockin Doopsie and Stephanie
Jordan.

Performances will celebrate workers, union organizations, and
responsible employers who ensure employees continue to thrive in the
workplace. Patriotic fans and concert goers will have an exclusive
intimate opportunity to listen to their favorite jazz and rock and roll
artists play back-to-back while supporting Working Californians’
nonprofit, which fosters social innovation and invests in improving
low-income communities. Earlier this year, Working Californians’ Annual
Social Innovation Summit gave away over $25,000 to Los Angeles
entrepreneurs in addition to offering business classes to community
members.

“We strive to make the annual Labor Day concert more exceptional every
year and once again we are honored to be hosting and supporting
California’s working community,” said Marvin Kropke, Co-Chair of Working
Californians. “There is no better arena than Exposition Park to salute
working families and we are overwhelmed by the talented artists who are
joining us here supporting this cause and enriching the lives of working
men and women everywhere.”

“It’s important to remember that today marks recognition for the workers
that are the foundation of this city,” said Brian D’Arcy, Co-Chair of
Working Californians. “Each year we come out here to celebrate we are
hoping to further strengthen and build on that foundation. If we
continue to invest in workers and take these steps together, the
pathways we can help create for working families are endless.”

Working Californians’ Nightshift concert has gained broad support among
dozens of local and city-wide validators including Pipe Trades Council,
DC 16; NECA; Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1277; IBEW, Local 18;
IBEW, Local 11; Los Angeles Federation of Labor; Teamsters, Local 396;
