Zayo Executive Sandi Mays Named Most Inspiring Woman in Comms

Company takes home two awards at Light Reading’s Leading Lights awards

BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sandi Mays, CIO at Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO), was named the
“Most Inspiring Woman in Comms” at Light Reading’s 2016 Leading Lights
awards. Zayo also earned top honors at the awards for its new Ethernet
product, FlexConnect, in the “Most innovative Enterprise Service”
category. The usage-based Ethernet product for cloud and data center
connectivity provides an on-demand option for high-performance
connectivity.

Mays, who leads Tranzact, IT, Big Data, Cyber Security, Billing, and
Client Service Management was part of Zayo’s founding team and has
served in a variety of leadership roles over the past decade at the
company. She and her team developed and manage Tranzact, the company’s
innovative platform for purchasing and managing bandwidth.

Mays is a champion of diversity, inclusion and engagement at Zayo and in
the community. Her team includes 63 percent women, and she has hired
more than 50 percent women over the past two years. Proving that
diversity isn’t just a numbers game, her teams’ employee satisfaction
ratings consistently have the top scores in the company. “Having a team
that is high performing and diverse go hand-in-hand,” Mays says. “Zayo’s
recruiting and retention programs consistently attract a diverse group
of candidates. It used to be challenging to hire diverse talent. Now it
just seems natural.”

She is responsible for establishing the company’s zForce mentoring
program and development initiative. Mays also takes her commitment to
mentoring outside of the office, working with young women in the
Greenhouse scholars program, participating in the Grace Hopper
Celebration of Women in Computing conference and staying involved with
Women in IT, Dreamforce, the CU Technology Club, STEM events and regular
hackathons. Mays is also one of three women named to the 2016 Salesforce
CIO Advisory Board.

“Sandi is an exceptional leader, and is passionate about delivering what
she calls an effortless customer experience for our external and
internal customers,” said Dan Caruso, chairman and CEO of Zayo, who has
worked alongside Mays across four companies since 1993. “In addition to
excellent business and technical skills, she has the unique ability to
bring people together. No matter what role she has played at Zayo, she
and her teams have consistently delivered strong performance and
results.”
