Cigna Launches Medicare Advantage Plan in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cigna (NYSE:CI), a leading provider of employer-sponsored group health
plans in the state and across the U.S., has begun offering a Medicare
Advantage health plan in Kansas City for the 2016 Medicare open
enrollment period. The new offering represents an expansion of Cigna’s
product and clinical
collaboration
capabilities already in Missouri.

Customers who enroll in Cigna’s Medicare Advantage plan, which has a $0
premium, will have access to care provided by the region’s leading
health care organizations. The network includes St. Luke’s Health
System, North Kansas City Hospital/Meritas, Shawnee Mission Medical
Center, Providence Medical Center, Saint John Hospital, St. Mary’s
Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center and reaches more than 1,200
primary care doctors and specialists affiliated with these hospitals.

“Our Medicare Advantage plans bring even more value and access to
quality care within reach for Medicare-eligible Americans in Kansas
City,” said Sheffield Young, general manager for Cigna’s Medicare
programs. “By working together with doctors and other health care
professionals, we can help our customers receive personalized care at an
affordable cost.”

“Our products, services and network are built around understanding our
customers. Expanding our presence in Kansas City means that we will now
have the opportunity to help our customers gain access to greater
quality care at every stage of life,” said Frank Monahan, Cigna
president for MidAmerica.

Cigna’s physician engagement model centers on a collaborative
relationship with health care professionals to tailor products and
services specific to the needs of the Medicare population. For Cigna
customers, this means that doctors spend more time understanding their
health to identify possible health risks. By focusing on preventive
care, doctors can diagnose health conditions early, which creates the
opportunity for individuals to make healthy changes.

Cigna’s 2016 Medicare options include a wide range of health and
prescription drug plans, as well as supplemental plans. All plans offer
extra benefits not covered under Original Medicare and are designed to
help customers better manage their health while limiting out-of-pocket
medical expenses. For 2016, Cigna will also offer its expanded fitness
benefit with the Silver&Fit
program
.

Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in Cigna’s 2016 Medicare Advantage
plan during the annual election period, which runs from October 15, 2015
to December 7, 2015. To learn about complete plan details in Kansas City
