TXU Energy Launches Free Nighttime Energy Charges
Whether youre a night owl or an early bird, theres something new that
can save you money this summer and all year long.
Energy has launched
Energy Free Nights 24SM, a new electricity plan that
offers customers free nighttime Energy Charges between the hours of 10
p.m. and 6 a.m. every night for two years.
The new plan offers customers a great chance to save by shifting
activities like running the dishwasher, washer and dryer or heavy TV
watching, PC use or interactive gaming to after 10 p.m. Changing
electricity usage patterns like these can bring customers who use the
new plan distinct savings on their electricity bills. By shifting just
10 percent of their electricity use from daytime to nighttime, when
Energy Charges are free, they can save over $200 a year or over $400 by
the end of their two-year contract term.
We all learned a lot from last summers record heat, when the daytime
temperatures were scorching, said Michael Grasso, chief marketing
officer, TXU Energy. Our customers who shift and save with TXU Energy
Free Nights 24 can generate cost savings for themselves and support the
greater good by removing demand from the Texas power grid during peak
consumption hours. Since the summer ahead is likely to be hotter than
usual, the new plan is a great option to consider as we all watch and
wait for the Texas heat to take hold for the season.
According to the
Weather Services three-month outlook, above-normal temperatures are
anticipated for summer 2012 though not as extreme as last summers.
Even the most diligent conservationists can see higher bills, since as
much as
of the energy used in homes goes to powering cooling and heating
systems, which tend to run frequently to constantly during extreme
outdoor temperatures.
In addition to the nighttime savings, TXU Energy Free Nights 24 also
provides a simple rate for energy during the day that wont increase in
summer or any time of the year and two full years of price protection
against rising power generation costs. Pairing the new plan with the

More About the Plan
Free nighttime Energy Charges applies only to the amount billed for the
Energy Charges between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. every day for 24 full months.
Base Charge, TDU Delivery Charges, state and local taxes, and all other
billed charges apply normally to all hours of usage. Estimated savings
based on average monthly usage of 2,000 kWh for 24 months, with
approximately 25% of pre-shift electricity usage between 10 p.m. and 6
a.m. Results will vary depending on actual usage.
