ClearCare Announces WorkSafe, a Workers’ Comp Program for Private Duty Home Care

Dean Watters Joins ClearCare to Lead CCO Insurance Solutions, LLC

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ClearCare Online, the technology platform for aging at home, has
released the WorkSafe program, a new offering for private duty home care
that reduces caregiver injuries and combats rising workers’ compensation
premiums. Integrated as a premium service within ClearCare’s SaaS
platform, WorkSafe is comprised of two components: WorkSafe Central, a
safety program that governs a spectrum of safety compliance, and CCO
Insurance Solutions, LLC, a new insurance entity created by ClearCare.

“ClearCare’s WorkSafe program is a disruptive innovation, and a first in
the 150-year history of the workers’ compensation industry,” said
Geoffrey Nudd, CEO of ClearCare. “As a SaaS platform provider, our
software can ensure safety protocols are followed, providing a greater
degree of transparency and confidence to the insurance underwriter, and
resulting in fewer injuries, reduced risk, and ultimately, lower
premiums for the agency owner.”

The software facilitates safety best-practices by ensuring caregivers
have safe and incident-free shifts, providing immediate triage to a
nurse should an incident occur, and by matching seniors with caregivers
that have the necessary skills for higher risk, homebound clients.
ClearCare’s proprietary safety scoring also allows agencies to
continually gauge their safety performance, adopt best practices to
improve the delivery of care, and lower their insurance premiums at the
same time.

Clear Care Online Insurance Solutions, led by ADP workers’ compensation
pioneer Dean Watters, has partnered with national A.M. Best A
(Excellent) Rated insurance carriers. The partnership offers new
benefits to home care agencies, including negotiated pricing, premium
claims services, nurse triage, pay as you go options and administrative
support services. When combined with WorkSafe, private duty home care
agencies can purchase workers’ compensation insurance at a 10 to 20
percent
discount, on average.

“As a home care agency owner, I had limited options for workers’ comp
insurance,” said Jonna Overson of Green Tree Home Care in San Diego,
Calif. “With WorkSafe, my caregivers work more safely and I save a great
deal of money on my insurance premiums. In fact, I’ve saved enough on my
premiums to pay for the entire ClearCare platform.”

Each year in the U.S., three million professional caregivers help the
elderly and adult-disabled to age comfortably at home. According to
caregiver.org, up
to 35 percent
of caregivers reported their own health as poor, while
17 percent reported their health declined as a result of performing
their caregiver responsibilities. Caregiver injuries further strain the
declining supply and availability of caregivers, which causes major
disruptions within home care agencies who employ caregivers.

Last August, ClearCare announced an $11M fundraising round led by
Bessemer Venture Partners, and last month revealed a new strategic
investment from McKesson Ventures. Since last August, ClearCare has
released home care innovations, including integrated payment processing,
background checks, work opportunity tax credit checks, and now, WorkSafe
Central with CCO Insurance Solutions. Many of the world’s largest home
care agencies, including Home Instead, Right at Home, Comfort Keepers,
Seniors Helping Seniors and others, now have access to these technical
solutions for aging. WorkSafe and CCO Insurance Solutions are now
available to all ClearCare customers in the U.S.
