First Data Earns Top Score in Human Rights Campaign’s 2016 Corporate Equality Index

First Data recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBT and earns 100
percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Fourteenth Annual
Scorecard on Workplace Equality

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–First
Data
(NYSE: FDC), a global leader in commerce-enabling technology
and solutions, announced today that it received a perfect score of 100
percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the second straight
year. The CEI is a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate
policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality that is
administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

“We are proud that First Data has again been designated as a best place
to work for LGBT equality by achieving a perfect score on the 2016 CEI,”
said Cindy Armine-Klein, Chief Control Officer at First Data. “Each and
every day First Data works to foster an environment that encourages our
employees to bring their whole selves’ to work, and this designation by
the HRC validates those efforts. At First Data we know that building a
richly diverse and inclusive workforce is not only the right thing to
do, it’s good for business.”

“In this 2016 Corporate Equality Index, hundreds of major businesses
responded to our new standards for workplace equality with exceptional
leadership. First Data not only meets these standards, it goes above and
beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental
aspect of its corporate values,” said HRC Foundation Workplace Equality
Program Director Deena Fidas.

First Data continues to be a leader in advocating for LGBT equality.
Earlier this year, First Data joined leading American companies in
signing HRC’s amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court in
support of same-sex marriage. Even before same-sex marriage was
recognized everywhere in the United States, First Data changed its
policies to ensure that its LGBT employees who were not legally allowed
to be married were given the same benefits as all other married
employees.

First Data also began holding Transgender 101 training sessions across
its global human resources organization. During these sessions First
Data introduced new corporate policies that will support employees
transitioning in the workplace. Additionally, these sessions will help
First Data affect policies, processes and a work environment where
transgender employees feel welcomed in the workplace. First Data has
also amended its medical plan to allow for gender transition coverage.

First Data’s commitment to diversity spans across all aspects of its
business. UNITY, First Data’s LGBT employee resource group, is just one
of six employee resource groups available to its employees. First Data
values its diverse workforce, and through the collaboration of its
employee resource groups not only will First Data grow its business, but
it will continue to serve the communities in which it operates.
