SynerMed Advances Its Network Services, Giving Provider Networks an Automated Solution for Monitoring State and Federal Reporting Requirements

MONTEREY PARK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#automatedsolutionSynerMed,
a leading Management Service Organization (MSO) in the United States,
announced today that it is adopting Quest
Analytics Suite™
to boost its network management services.

Health plans in today’s marketplace are challenged with controlling
costs and driving efficiency with narrower networks. However, this
raises concerns for state and federal regulators who are charged with
monitoring network adequacy and protecting consumer access to care.
Quest Analytics Suite™ provides analysis and reporting solutions that
are capable of meeting the ever-changing demands of the industry.

“Quest Analytics gives SynerMed and our customers a competitive
advantage,” said Eddie Calles, SynerMed Vice President of Strategic
Development. “This automated system helps monitor network adequacy
requirements by using the same tools utilized by the Centers for
Medicare & Medicaid Services.”

Optimal provider networks are required to maintain a sufficient number
of physicians and specialists, assuring that all services are accessible
to enrolled beneficiaries without unreasonable delay and within a
specific geographic area.

Medi-Cal
populations
are hit hardest by disparities in access to healthcare.
According to a recent study by UCLA Center for Health Policy Research
and California HealthCare Foundation, 6% of adult Medi-Cal patients
experienced problems finding a doctor who would accept them as a patient
compared to 2% of people with employer-based coverage. While this may
not seem like a big difference, Medi-Cal patients tend to have more
health problems and rely on emergency departments as a primary source of
healthcare, according to Shana Alex Charles, Director of Health
Insurance Studies for the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.1

“Quest Analytics enhances our ability to build successful provider
networks and meet market-specific requirements for network adequacy,”
said James
Mason
, SynerMed President and Chief Executive Officer. “As new
standards evolve in measuring provider network access, Quest Analytics
Suite™ offers greater flexibility to adapt to state and federal
requirements, which is invaluable to our customers’ growing needs.”

Quest Analytics meets new proposed requirements for the health insurance
marketplace, and provides better reporting efficiency and agility
compared to old self-reporting standards. Combined with SynerMed’s suite
of advanced technology and services, provider networks now have even
more resources at their disposal to keep up with industry standards and
practices.
