The Hartford Recognized For Sustainability Efforts

HARTFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The
Hartford has been named to the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
(DJSI) and the 2015 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Leadership Index.
This is the eighth consecutive year The Hartford’s sustainability
efforts and practices have been commended by CDP and the fourth by DJSI.

stewardship at The Hartford. “We value our role as a corporate citizen,
and we are committed to responsible energy management as well as
reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

In the past year alone, The Hartford has:

Reduced the company’s energy-related greenhouse gas emissions by more
than 15 percent compared with 2013.
Made significant progress on its three-year goal to convert 15 percent
of its vehicle fleet to hybrid automobiles by 2016.
Offered incentives for insurance products that help customers reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, such as premium discounts for hybrids and
electric vehicles.
Employed the company’s Environmental
Investment Policy Statement established in 2010, to all investment
decisions.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices are the longest running global
sustainability benchmarks worldwide. They are the standard for assessing
a company’s leadership on environmental stewardship, corporate
governance and social reporting. The indices are maintained
collaboratively by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM.

The CDP Leadership Index spotlights companies listed on the S&P 500 that
have demonstrated a commitment to managing climate change by integrating
plans into their business strategy and taking actionable steps to
mitigate climate-related risk.
